Chiropractic is a regulated health care proffession that specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of conditions that are due to mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Physical, psychological and social aspects of a person's health are taken into account. Patients seeking treatment with Dr Joshua Gernetzky, Dr Tarnia Raad or Dr Maxine Millar are assured of receiving only the finest quality care through the use of modern chiropractic equipment, technology and scientific procedures.
Who can benefit?
All types of Athletes can benefit from chiropractic care. Routine adjustments have shown to improve performance, improve range of motion (especially in endurance athletes), increase blood flow, and reduce injuries. Because spinal adjustments reduce the irritation of the nerve roots between the vertebrae, the healing time from minor injuries can be shortened, improving performance.
There are four stages in which having an optimal nervous system can help both mother and child:
Pre-Conception - Chiropractic care prepares the body to be as strong, supple and balanced as possible to carry the pregnancy.
Pregnancy - Regular chiropractic care during pregnancy appeals to mothers who seek a natural approach to giving birth.
Labor & Birth - Many rely on chiropractic care to assure optimum bio-mechanics of the hips and spine so as to reduce the need for intervention during the birthing process.
After birth - Even natural births can put stress on a baby's spine. Breast feeding problems can arise if the baby has a subluxation and is unable to comfortably turn its head to one side.
Newborn / Infants
A spine, with some exceptions, usually develops perfectly before birth. It's what happens during birth and in the months thereafter that can sometimes upset the normal functioning of the spine. Spinal vertebra can be pushed or pulled out of place due to the baby's position in the womb, or during the labor or birthing process.
The ICPA has initiated a ground-breaking study on the safety and effectiveness of chiropractic care on children. The preliminary results are outstanding and show that chiropractic care is not only safe for children but improves sleeping, behaviour and attitude, and immune system function.
Chiropractors can help correct misalignment in the spine that may be effecting the central nervous system causing a variety of problems on the discs, muscles and tendons. Gentle manipulations and mobilizations are used together with muscular release techniques and kinesiology taping to support the weak muscles or structures. Regular treatments may relieve pain, increase range of motion, improve arthritis and decrease joint degeneration.
