At Bay Life Centre we strive to introduce the most effective treatments, based on trustworthy research sources, for the benefit of our patients. 2021 witnessed the introduction of mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy to assist our patients healing from a number of conditions.
What is mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves the administration of 95% oxygen at 1.3 -1.5 average atmospheric pressure. This pressure helps the body fluids absorb the oxygen, elevating the oxygen levels of the blood plasma in the body. This increases oxygen flow into the tissues of the brain and body. There are a number of ways in which the body benefits from an increased level of oxygen, namely:
Bay Life has been monitoring the success of this treatment modality abroad before deciding to invest in a Chamber of its own. Over recent years we have seen case studies stating that exposure to mild hyperbaric oxygen helps improve fatigue; metabolic syndrome and other lifestyle-related diseases (such as type- 2 diabetes and hypertension); and its effects on wound-healing have been impressive. More recently, studies on post-concussion and post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms (such as poor memory, reduced cognitive functions, depression, anxiety, and sleep) have shown to significantly improve from such treatment too.
Our experiences after a few months of offering this service have been very positive. We have been keeping our own statistics and can testify that our results show that the claims that research is making are indeed true for our context. Patients looking for a faster recovery from COVID-19 and the symptoms experienced with long-COVID; wound healing; fatigue; poor memory; poor concentration and cognitive function; poor sleep; cramping; respiratory complications; and post-exercise recovery should consider this form of treatment, based on what we have witnessed thus far.
